Re: Flea Market 2014-2015-2016
I came across this photo of a soldier and his YANK magazine pin up. I see he threw away the rest of the magazine.

PC would prevent that photo being included in any military magazine these days----- ....The editor would be demoted or possible shot..and the nose art of AAC during WWW2, if painted today on a military plane, would cause the unit Commander to be transferred to a desk job in Alaska...

No doubt Hugh! I read the back of this picture. The soldier is actually a German POW detained in the US. Wonder where he found the magazine?

Re: Flea Market 2014-2017
With work and travel its been a few weeks since I've been able to make it to the flea market. Dang cold this morning but well worth the trip. Perhaps the best find was the TL 122A but the '42 dated pocket bible was very cool though not nearly as nice as the one in my keeper GMTK I got from Greg. An unbranded 1/4" ratchet undoubtedly made by Walden, a 4 oz Plumb hammer, a 1 1/4" Lutz handle, crescent pliers, a Plvmb 1145 DBE 1 x 15/16", a 15/16" DI socket, a "G" stamped 5/8" Snap On socket, a 3/4" Craftsman H series socket, a S-K 1 1/8" socket and a PROTO DLB, The two 5 1/2" electrician screwdrivers are rough but they are hard to come by and I'm hopeful they will clean up.

I noticed that the one you just picked up is explicitly for "protestant" servicemen. I don't remember if the one I sent you was that particular. So maybe you can put this one in the protestant GMTK keeper, and the other one in the catholic GMTK keeper, and when you find a pocket torah, you'll have all your GMTK's covered in worship.pjones wrote:Perhaps the best find was the TL 122A but the '42 dated pocket bible was very cool though not nearly as nice as the one in my keeper GMTK I got from Greg.
$5 for a TL-122A. That's what's nice about flea markets. Sellers just don't do their homework.

Great haul, Phil. I'm surprised that Tin hasn't claimed the Snap-on yet. Maybe he's at the flea.

I'm sure he will but if not I may try to put a set together. I have always skipped over Snap On at the flea market. Not really sure why.d42jeep wrote:I'm surprised that Tin hasn't claimed the Snap-on yet.

Between finding this bible today and watching Hacksaw Ridge tonight I remembered that I had one other bible given to me by a wonderful retired nurse with greater than 40 years service. The protective cover reads " May this keep you safe from harm".

Phil, that's a great example . I found the Bible at the flea for about $5, but it did not have that cover or the inserts either. WOW!

Re: Flea Market 2014-2017
In the last 2 weeks I've covered early and late war lights, first with a TL 122A and now with a TL 122D. Also found a nice Irwin driver which I don't see around here very often, a Vlchek 15" auto, Kastar gauge and a file handle.

Nice haul. Phil. especially on the flashlights...I don't see the WW2 lights at all anymore, or very seldom..........I jump when I see a light on the flea table only (always) to find it is a very very late post war light..lot of them around------...not good

Re: Flea Market 2014-2017
A really good day for militaria but I did manage to find a few tools. I really like the flying V Vlchek pliers so I always pick them up when I see them. Also found a 33 C Fairmount sharp with no "A" and a 723 Armstrong.
