No, Greg,I cannot post a link.
For a very simple reason: I screwed up!
The Mc Kaigh I had in mind does have the reinforcing ring.

I cannot say when it was manufactured.
What would make a war time Mc Kaigh plausible are the prewar supplier clue and the war time supplier clue:for what they are worth,as usual.

As for the Williams in the flamethrower kit, it was first posted by Kevin Monahan. Here it is:

Williams seems to have been an active tool supplier during WWII:

By that I meant to acknowledge how Kevin had shown an adjustable made by Williams and used in a war time toolkit.
The clues for using Williams made tools in a GPW toolkit have been mentioned many times on this forum,so I am not going list them here again:I do not recall anyone disagreeing on them, anyway.
Of course anyone contemplating the use of a Williams 8" adjustable in a GPW toolkit ipso facto accepts the idea that a wrench with a reinforced hanging hole is not the only way to go.

No, not many who did any REAL investigative work into them disagreed that Williams could be a factory Ford toolkit vendor all those years ago.....except those who went with the "it's too EXPENSIVE" response. (Who were those guys anyway?)

So while this is a FACTORY tool kit thread, the appearance of Williams in the 1945 flamethrower kit does give them a Motorpool acceptance and since the Rockhampton photo is from 1943, it would seem that they are still in the MAYBE Category, upgraded over the years from the NFW Category.

Personally I have Danielson as my #1 option right now for a factory tool kit but have several others awaiting further information that might narrow the field.

Again, while we may have evidence of one mfger at any particular date during the war we may have other vendors at other times providing the same tools.

I certainly agree that a reinforced hanging hole is a feature that the Rockhampton kit shows but that does not limit the possibility of other vendors at other times providing an 8" Adj. with other styles of hanging holes....it DOES exclude other mfgers from being the maker of that particular wrench in that particular photo however.

Some features/characteristics let us exclude some mfgers and some let include them....for that point in time in that photo they do point to certain mfgers and do exclude others...nothing more, nothing less.

Actually the idea that some gee member expressed was not about Williams being too expensive, but rather about Superrenches being too expensive.
I remember Dino! expressing the concept, and I remember agreeing on the idea at least making sense.
I guess any one can retrieve the posts and check.

Yes, a flamethrower toolkit had Williams made tools in it, so we can see the stile of a Williams adjustable in a war time toolkit.

Would a Williams made 8" be acceptable or plausible in a motorpool GPW kit?
Yes,as long as you consider Williams a government supplier even in lack of a specific 8" crescent type adjustable contract.
No, if in lack of such an evidence you have one of those "labels" ready.

As for a factory GPW toolkit, I would grant to a Williams made crescent type 8" adjustable a plausible grade, basing myself on the" war time supplier" clue.
Actually, I might have included such a tool in one of the few "Williams" GPW toolkits that I proudly sold in the past on this forum.
