Just delayed, the fizzling sound you heard was all my cash disappearing at Topeka.

Been there, done that. I still can use a couple New Barco handles for a couple nice WWII Axes I have with loose handles. Do not be disappointed if they have smooth grain. I can send you a pic of the GI Barco I have, they are a decendent of the original Kelly Works True Temper. The handle configuration is the best I have seen.
I wish John was still around to "hang" a handle for me.

I am not affiliated with the seller. Very decently priced even with shipping. And it is a fixed price listing. Just thought I'd give a heads up.

Search Single Bit Axe Handle-Premium Quality 36" New # 1136
Strike this one off the "Possible List"......nice handle but definitely not the WWII design. (squared off fawns foot.) Couldn't see that end in the auction photo.

I am still game to share an order from BARCO. I have a NOS GI Issue BARCO 4# Axe the handle is correct, and have several WWII True Temper Kelly Works and a Collins that have their original Fawns Foot handles, the BARCO is the same cut and curvature. I could use a BARCO handle to replace one which is damaged and loose.

Ben,
I have read through this post and maybe I am just missing it, but what kind of price are we talking about to place an order for the axe handles you are speaking about.

Not cheap, someone has to order, receive and reship. probably between 20-30 bucks. I had it all figured out last fall, they have to be ordered thru a distributor. It cuts the chase tho, resulting in exactly what the collector wants. I never let a few extra bucks get in the way when it ends the search. There are all kinds of aftermarket axe handles out there in the $10.00 range, but few, if any, will be quality with the correct "fawn's foot" cut on the end. The GI BARCO 4# Axe is a direct decendent of the True Temper Flint Edge Kelly Works Axe of WWII and the handle is correct and available.
