Re: Mudbox's GMTK
Your set is looking great Mudbox. Two round-nosed pliers for those that can't make up their minds - I like that! Yes, your D-I 1-1/16" socket is looking fine in my GMTK. My conscious is well a truly pricked! I have a 1/2" Duro-chrome breaker-bar but the hole for the 1/2" handle is too small, that's why I changed to the Walden Worcester which, like the 1/4" examples is beautifully crafted. Hope you track down that second D-I socket very soon, or I can see this one winging its way back to Cincinnati.

Thanks Heart! It's gone all cold here so I may not be able to find the rest of the D-I sockets until Spring! But, it's all good. I'm more than happy to have been able to help you out. I'm sure that socket looks great in it's new home! Share a pic when you have a chance.

Hi Mudbox ... did you say you do not have a pry bar? '"Silly's MB" put me onto these which are the real McCoy(marked US QMC) but have been replated for resale. Some acid treatment returns them back to their former glory. Let me know if you would like me to obtain one ....

Re: Mudbox's GMTK
They are not GMC marked as he says in the advert, it is QMC like Cliff says. Some strikes are better than others and he told me back in May at Beaulieu that he had no more left so he must of found one.

Re: Mudbox's GMTK
Thanks guys, for the heads up.
Seems that my delay here has caused me to miss this one. I've been helping my father-in-law all weekend.
It got me looking and I found a Plomb bar on eBay. Just won the auction. Should be here next week.
I got a chance to swing through a little roadside flea marker today. Found a few things. Namely a placeholder 1/2 drive craftsman circle-U breaker bar.
A few other gems.
The Phillips driver is 4" marked VASSEL with metal plate on the butt of the handle.
Slotted driver is 5-1/8" not branded.
Plomb WF-21 works smooth. Missing the friction ball
The putty knife looks the part with wood scales. No brand.
Punch is Starrettt #117-E.
The long DBE is Bluegrass 1" and 15/16. Will use as a placeholder for now.
Thanks again for the heads up on that pry bar! Bummed that I missed it.

Hi Jason,
I think I was watching that Plomb bar too but I bought this Cornwell a little earlier. Did you look at that one and if so, what did you think of it?

Thanks John! I've spent more time (and money) on ebay in the last month than I'd care to admit. Just trying to track down those last few pieces!

Re: Mudbox's GMTK
Hi Jason. You asked if I would share a photo of my completed Duro-Indestro 'D-I' 1/2" socket set. Thank you so much for helping me complete it. I should also thank Phil & Roger who also got me some of the hard-to-find examples. I hope Santa brings you the tools you're looking for to complete your GMTK. Like lots of things, it's the buzz after the chase that gives most of the pleasure!!

Cliff!
Man, that set looks amazing!
Thanks for posting a pic. I'm actually fairly jealous of that 7/16" socket. The one I have is the more narrow/fluted version.
A great looking set and a fantastic presentation.

Glad you liked the D-I set Jason. Here's another posting about the different D-I shapes for the 1/2" socket:

Re: Mudbox's GMTK
I must have been good this year! Santa brought me a nice DBE and a Breaker bar!
At least now I've got a period correct set of Long DBEs!
The New Britain bar is the short guy at roughly 12" long.
The new:
and the set of DBEs. Bluepoint is 'E' dated.
Merry Christmas to you tool hounds!

Nice additions. Santa was very good to you. You are really getting close to the finish line now. I've got my eyes open for the few items you have left to go.
