You'll find the difference in the 3rd line of pictures when you scroll down.
Your frame might be as you say a 6v Hotchkiss, as they don't have the reinforcements near the gussets.
They say you might also find a 3rd type of indent on "transition 6v frames", WOF I guess, that they describe as "ending round", while on the pictures you can see the MB "ending with an arrow shape" and the classic WOF (24v I guess) "ending like a Y"

The Dana 18 on the M201 - is it identical to the MB/GPW, with 27 splines on the input gear used for the PTO? I'm looking to find out which overdrive to get.

Hallo Seff, I was looking at the pictures you posted at the beginning of the thread and I noticed that the fourth one depicts a side view of the radiator.
I have an original M201 radiator, that was mounted on my jeep when I bought it; here are some pictures of it (already posted elsewhere on this forum) to compare : it has a Willys style shroud, and a soldered tag, visible on the second picture, reading "Etab(lis)s(emen)t E. AFFOUARD Asnieres" and also indicating a s./n:
seen from the front : seen from the back: fins pattern seen through the grille, with some poor bees that happened to be on my way :
I cannot see much detail of your radiator on the picture that you posted, but judging from what can be seen it looks like yours has some different pattern in the top tank notches, and also the shroud looks like having 3 reinforcement tabs that mine does not have. Is it possible for you to take some high resolution pictures of the radiator from the back and left sides, and through the grille to show the fins pattern, and either post them here in low res or better send them to me (I will send you my email address in pm) ?

A few questions.
Both fenders have this marking, that's typical of US fenders, right?
Does anyone know a good place in Europe to get the type of rear light I've depicted? I have one of those, and one of the traditional ones with sealed bulbs.

your shown rear lights are french made by marchal and are avaiable by Joop Staman BV in the Netherlands.

Congratulations on your newly acquired Hotchkiss! I'm not real familure with the early Hotchkiss Jeeps, but I can see you've gotten some real good explainations of what you really have. My M-201 was made in 1960 so it is completely French except for some components that were replaced when rebuilt at La Maltournee in 1964, like the GPW transmission case with all WOF parts inside, and possibly the hood. If you're interested I can send photos of what I have so you can make comparisons. Wish you all the best on your journey, it will be fun, I know it was for me!

In Europe, "TP25" stencils on fenders are a typical case of "monkey see, monkey do" !
During ww2 TP markings were often seen on the inner windshield panel, on the dashboard, or directly behind the wheels, inside the fenders and wheel arches. Them being over the wheels on the fenders is 99,99999% a post-war thing!

New collectors tend to overdo the stencil work, which makes the Jeep look like it is wearing a sports jacket. Plain Jane, USA Numbers plus unit markings are sufficient to make the Jeep perform its mission. Those APO Shipping instructions should be gone soon after they get to an overseas vehicle park.

I agree, but extra stenciling was not uncommon.
On my gpw, never restaured/never been in the french army, I have found remains of a "tyre pressure 25lbs" behind the rifle rack, and remains of a "prestone ??" on the hood.
I now also have a nice amount of fuel cans, a lot have original paint and stencils.
But none is like the ones you see everywhere "auto combt gas" and so on, that I believe to be pure fantasy.
