starting problem

Post by m201wakejeep » Sun Dec 14, 2014 2:41 am

Hello all.....here's a picture of my M201 at the Towton battlefield site in Yorkshire. She's a good runner and drives well.....however, now the cold and damp weather has arrived she doesn't like to start easily (currently looking to build a shed to put her in).
There's plenty of power in the batteries but she's not firing - is it a matter of unscrewing the distributor cap and treating with wd 40? ...any tips woul be appreciated!

Hi, Just saw your post,

The old theory is WD40 acts as an insulator if squirted on top of the distributor cap around the HT leads. Have you checked/changed the Rotor arm, distributor cap, HT leads and replaced the spark plugs to give your jeep a tune up? Your problem can occur if the distributor cap is cracked inside which will cause arching, this also applies to the foot starter.

Regards

Steve
