W.O.F. JEEP PARTS IN USA

Post by Joe Gopan » Sat Jul 12, 2014 11:05 pm

W.O.F. parts have been in circulation in the USA since at least the 50's, one of the major sources was SARAFANS in Spring Valley, NY, a major importer of Surplus Jeep Parts. SARAFAN was a wholesaler to many of the Gov't Surplus dealers in the USA. Typical early 70's NOS prices, MB/GPW Fenders, $10.00 ea, Complete MB/GPW Windshields, $85.00 (In the School Bus across the road from the office) and SW Temp Gauges in the original GI Box, $10.00 ea., and MB Radiator Guards stacked outside, $10.00 ea..
Many of the NOS gauges and sheet metal items on my MB are from SARAFANS.

The tag on NOS SARAFAN RH Fender on my MB had a 1967 Gov't Contract No. on it . Any G-503 members have a NOS WOF Body from SARAFAN?

My father-in-law was a military vehicle dealer in upstate NY in the 60s through early 70s, and did a lot of business with the Sarafans.

In 1988 he purchased a complete Jeep imported from France through Sarafan. The bill of sale is signed by Shirley Sarafan herself. I am now the very proud owner of this Jeep, an M-201 Hotchkiss (a.k.a. Super Jeep, among other things).

Wouldn't it be nice if the W.O.F. bodies were still avaiable. They were authorized by JEEP .

Hello Joe,

Yes that would be great to have those types of parts again :D :D :D
I have a complete M201 ,used body, not nos, with seats, and gas tank, that likely came from them.
It is installed on a cj3a that I bought from a seller in NJ some years ago.

Once I find an M201 frame, I will build an M201 jeep from all the parts I have collected :D :D :D
The WOF rims are outstanding as well !!

Best Regards,
Ray

Anybody know a part number for the points and condenser? Are they available in US for a M201? Like NAPA etc?

Thanks Robert

Hello Robert -

Speaking from my own experience, I think your first question is - What type/model distributor is in your M-201?

I've used the standard points and condenser sold by RFJP with no issue, as my M-201 has an IGC-4705 (old-style with no dust cover)
distributor with a "4W" date code - April of 1942! I believe it's the oldest component on my Jeep. I rebuilt it over the winter with new advance springs and weights, and regular MB points and condenser.

Is there such a thing as an M-201 distributor? I don't know...

Thanks. But this one has the original 24 volt waterproof system. I don’t have the jeep here to look at. I do know it is the original system.
