Steering connecting rod adjusting plug tool

Post by Gpralph » Fri Feb 23, 2018 1:15 pm

I am having difficulty removing the steering connecting rod adjusting plug. Is there a specialist tool I can get or do I need to improvise (as shown in excellent the g503 video)?

Do you mean the sector shaft adjustment screw on the cover plate?

I think he is referring to the steering drag link. A large screwdriver (or something similar) and a large plier to help you turn the shaft of the screwdriver will usually turn the slotted plugs on both ends.

Thanks every one. It isn’t a drag link socket I need. Just off to order one. Thanks again. G

A must for those who intend to master Jeep repair.
They come in 3/8" and 1/2" drive. Measure the length of the slot in your drag link to get the best fit.
3/8" Drive may be less clumsy.
