Flywheel housing A-438 vs A-439

Post by clausnam » Sat Jan 20, 2018 7:31 am

Hi all,

According to the parts manual the part number for the flywheelhousing is A-349. I have two housing that I have collected for my restoration and both are marked A-438..?

From what I read they seem to be MA or slat grill housings? Would there be a difference or will they fit? Both have tapped holes for the emergency brake cable fixing, ones casting code is 9\7 and the other is blank?

Just checking if they will fit my 44 MB, albeit not the correct part nr?

Thanks Claus

I don’t have my SNL G503 with me but I surmise the A 439 is the part number for the Bell Housing assembly. The actual casting number for the Willys MB bell housing is A 438.

Certain characteristics of your bell housings will determine if the are correct for an MA, a Slat Grill MB or a standard MB.
