Don't worry; I have driven and ridden a million miles in jeeps of all sorts; M151s for 28 years in the Army. Often I would drive whilst in the field as my drivers were often useless in their regular jobs and bad drivers too, (which is why they were made jeep drivers. One of them I remember was the Battalion assistant welder; he couldn't weld and couldn't drive). And I drove an M38 (Yes it had a heater) as a daily driver for ten years. Story from the 1980s; I was working on RIA and driving my jeep home from work one day; ran out of gas (gas gauge didn't work and my can was empty).
Arsenal police pulled up and told me to get in and he would take me to get gas. When we pulled up the to the POL point, I told him; "I can't use this gas, this is a personal vehicle".
He laughed and took me to Moline and I got gas.

That is when you know you did an excellent job on a resto. They took you to base. Awesome.

Well, actually I worked on RIA; I was already on post. But the Arsenal police didn't see the civilian license plates on it. He was just trying out help out a stranded Captain.

The #4 plug can short out in a driving rain storm, I remember driving my MB to a display at Owls head about 75 miles from here and removed the top. I folded the top under the seat just in case of rain. It was sunny most of the day but on the return there was a sudden cloudburst so violent that I could not see thru the windshield and did not want to get out as the only dry spot was under my rear end. All the plugs started shorting and I had to keep it at near half throttle to keep the engine running. The cloud burst was over in 10 minutes, the water level on the floor was ankle high.
Owls Head is on the coast and when it rains between there and Belfast, it rains.

Sometimes you really don't have a choice about whether that #4 plug will get wet.

This was on Route 66 between Amarillo and Tucumcari. I don't recall any plug shorting that day, but we did get some rain.
