GPW 22192 Pedal and clutch shaft removal

Post by Frankie » Wed Sep 13, 2017 2:41 pm

OK, I removed the pedals and the clutch shaft but still have to deal with the half moon shaped woodruff key which seems to be stuck. Suggestions? Also, how much play is there normally between the clutch and brake pedal shaft and the frame bracket? Mine is a little sloppy as is the clutch pedal on the shaft and I don't want to replace them unless there is no choice. Is a little slop there considered normal? Thanks, Frank

If the key is still in the slot. first squirt some solvent on it a couple times and come back later, then using a chisel and hammer, tap the end UP until it stands up and you can get it out with pliers...new Woodruff keys are not expensive.

Thanks, Chuck. I'll try that. Should I worry about slop in that shaft, or will the bracket coming back from the master cylinder tend to minimize the slop?

You can buy that bracket that is tacked to the frame to replace a worn out one if that is what you were referring to was sloppy. If the shaft itself is worn then replace it. I suppose if you fit a new shaft in there it might mitigate some of the slop but if it is still noticeable then you should install a new one on the frame.
