Well gents anyone seen one like this - marked Ford in the flourished style. Just in case you say its a one off or home made I have happened on another one just like it.

Does it come apart? Is the S shape part a lug wrench? If so, My grand dad had one for his 8N tractor. I do not know if it was made for that.

No it is one piece - don't know if it started out that way though...

It looks like that bulge was made to fit snuggly into the bumper hole to make a smoother crank motion. Almost as if it was a bearing of sorts for the bumper hole.

I have one like that for a pe 95 generator.
It is just shorter. I believe Dino is correct for the reason of the fat section Pretty sure it lined up with a support.

Well , as I said the one above is a Ford marked crank and belongs to a friend who has owned it 30 years . The one below which I have just acquired from ebait is unmarked (that I can see, I have cleaned it up a bit) The sleeve in front of the handle is in a different position from the crank above. The handle bends are tighter and I would say achieved by heating the metal. From other photos of original marked cranks the drive dog is in the correct orientation. It is old and heavily pitted with British rust (much worse than US rust I have found !) Measurements are 30 1/2" long and fabricated from 3/4" bar.
If this was a PE95 crank (rare over here) would it be the same length as the Ford /Willys type - plus looking at generator crank photos the sleeve is 4" or so up the shaft towards the drive dog.
There is a possibility this is a British fabricated or modified crank or maybe from another European army postwar. I was thinking of running a grinder disc up the sleeve and seeing if it was hiding a socketed and welded joint - if not it is definitely a wear sleeve for where the crank comes through the bumper and this would tell me more.
I cannot try it on my jeep as the engine is yet to be fitted so I will see my friend shortly who owns the crank above and also a rather nice MB.

Try posting this down in the "G503 Tools & Equipment ( Vehicle & Pioneer) " section. Very informative section regarding tools and lots of discussions on tools.
