Ring gear on wrong?

Post by 45MBJeep » Sat Jun 10, 2017 3:54 am

I've just removed the flywheel. Does the ring gear look as though it's been installed backwards?

It's backward.
The taper on the teeth should be on the starter drive side.

Simple fix tho, takes less than 2minutes to unshrink and reinstall using an acetylene torch.

Thanks Wolfman & Ben

Today's job was to replace the ring gear as it had a few chewed teeth and I wanted to make sure I put the new one on correctly. It's not fitted and the motor is back in.

Thanks again, Lee.
