Brake Pedal and Master Cylinder Identification

Post by John Bradshaw » Tue May 30, 2017 1:42 pm

Your help and experience Guy's would be much appreciated regarding my Jeep Brake Pedal and Master Cylinder Identification.
I have a 1945 Willys MB Jeep. Chassis N0 442453 Engine N0 MB 625083 the Brake pedal fitted has a part N0 A-10270 WO 98.
I cannot find any reference to this part number in the parts book TM9-803 ORD 9 SNL G503 15 February 1945? It refers to WO-A-8253 which is correct?

The Clutch Pedal Arm part N0 on my Jeep is WO-A-10269 which is a superseded part no and correct for the Jeep.

The Brake Master Cylinder I have removed for renovation has the following numbers on the casting on the left Sde as it would be fitted facing the front of the vehicle E1S and under this Number is 22. To the left of these numbers is E6086. On the Reservoir Cap is the numbers E13-W944 and opposite on the cap to this number is 6018 21
My question is is this original and correct for my Jeep I cannot seem to find any such number in the parts book I referred to earlier?
Many thanks if you can assist in answers to my questions.

Best regards
John

Sounds like you have a EIS brand Master Cylinder. EIS was a quality aftermarket manufacturer and no longer exists under that name.
A lot happens to a Jeep in 75 Years.
Lockheed Wagner was OEM supplier to Jeep on MB, M-38/M-38A1 and the CJ's of the 40's-70's. MB/GPW used same as CJ-2A.

Many of the forgings and casting numbers found on your Jeep are just that and the number is for the semi-finished part without the final machining. These forging and casting numbers will not be found in the TM10 and SNL parts books but will have a factory drawing on file. Just try to imagine how many reference numbers for finished and unfinished parts that were on file at Willys and Ford. Even the color paint sometimes gave a finished part an individual part number.

Thanks Ben.
It is interesting to note that the Clutch Arm fitted is the supper seeded one referred to in the TM as is WO-A-10269. The Brake Arm that was fitted is only one lower to the Clutch arm?
best regards
John
