GPW front Seat inspection stamps?
Hi guys,
Has anyone see an inspection stamps on a GPW seat before? I've got a couple of Big M's over a 2 stamped onto my front passenger seat, haven't checked the drivers seat yet, are they an inspectors stamp? Will post a photo later.
Cheers
Matt

Hey Matt
I don't think it's an inspection stamp for the seat. I think it's most likely something to do with the steel manufacture. You can find that stamp on original front and rear seats also on the rear seat as well as ford top bows. Doubt very much anyone will find them on pitted rusted tube as the number is quite small. Have not found them on ford windscreens Dont know if you find the same number on willys seats ect.

Thanks Nick,
That makes sense as the stamp is on the same piece of tube twice, was a nice little find

Where on the seat did you find these markings?

These are on the seat frame tubing, this one is right on the top, there is another one that i've found so far that is on the same bit of tubing but on the side

Are your seat backs embossed with an "F"?
I'll have to pull all my Ford seats off the shelf and check for this M2 marking.

Re: GPW front Seat inspection stamps?
Hey Bill and Michael
Matt's picture shows the mark quite clearly. But they are quite easy to miss. Like I said they are less likely seen if the tube is pitted. Michael I think Matt will say his seat is f stamped. All of the marks I have found are on stamped seats. The same with top bows f stamped. I haven't found those stamps on original flat metal (bumpers brackets ect. Only on tube. Thinking about I haven't found the 2 on original ford screens. Maybe it was just a ford mark?
