Book Recommended For Heat Treating Steel

Post by Jerry Hudgens » Thu Jan 12, 2017 6:03 am

I recently bought a book Titled "The Perfect Edge". The subtitle is "The Ultimate Guide to Sharpening For Woodworkers".

This book really goes into details about heat treating steel, tempering and softening (annealing) steels. I highly recommend this book. It is well written and includes some technical data on the various steels. It explains how some steels (high carbon steels ) are non-magnetic when they reach their critical temperature.

Anyway, if you are interested in sharpening your tools and in heat treating steels, this book is an excellent source for information and specifications.
