Bonnet numbers!!

Post by Adam42 » Thu Jun 16, 2016 1:52 am

I didn't know where to put this, so i put it in the technical knowledge base..as I need technical knowledge on bonnet/hood number...

Soon I'll be re spraying the jeep, I'm going for an early British jeep. This means putting on an American blue number, then Micky mouse camo and then just spraying the British number over the top. You'll still the American number under the White British one....

My question is...how does the American blue number go on?. Tom has told me the "S" should go on the scuttle, so that would be for e.g

"U.S.A 20200042-S" the S ending up on the drivers side scuttle....

But all the pictures I see have all the numbers on the bonnet and the USA above the numbers not at the side?.

U.S.A
20200042-S

Help?.....

U.S.A. ( periods are square ) goes above the hood number ( about centered ) from the factory. On GPWs the " S " location varied based on date and assembly plant. The " S " on your GPW was on the cowl.

What about passenger side?.

Would it be..

U.S.A
"s- 20200042"

Or just all on the hood?.
