Any tips on getting this off?

I'm trying to remove the nut that holds the front yoke onto the transfer case. It will not budge! Any tips or tricks?

You have to hold the yoke with a big wrench and turn the nut with a bigger breaker bar/wrench. I use long cheater bars. Hard to do under the jeep.

I used an impact wrench, zipped it right off. So much easier than pipes and breaker bars. Easy to do even when the TC is still installed. This is the 21st century and halfway decent tools are cheap at Harbor Freight.

Took mine to my local mechanic and he fired them off in 5 seconds with his impact wrench, really impressive. Once they're off though you have to start thinking about how you're going to get them back on an torqued up properly! I have decided to build a tool to hold the front yoke so that I can torque the nuts up,

cheers

Home made tool. Can be done with angle iron as well.

Understand how system parts interact with one another. GOOD parts can then be established & the NOT GOOD problem/s part/s isolated for repair or replacement.
