I think there is a relationship between the generator serial and the block.
My 45G matches. I'd be willing to bet those that didn't were depot replacements

Heres another genset with a flaming bomb on the oval pad.

Its on a Wilson engine, assembled with ford rods, oil pump, main cap bolts, and head. No machining date on oil pan sealing area,
