Unknown gas tan, need help identifying

I got this tank with a USMC MZ-2 Jeep and a bunch of parts. It has pressed in strengthening grooves, no marks other than on top of the sending unit which reads "No 21 6V". Has anyone seen one of these before or know what period they are? Thanks

It isn't a factory installed WWII tank. Some post war repop. Look at the picture below and you can see that the construction is basically THREE pieces. The two ends and one long wrap around center section that is seamed just to the passenger side of the sender hole.

Your tank does not appear to have that folded seam in that location.

I have a similar ribbed tank, large mouth with no visible markings.
