Yah, patents can be very enlightening!

I was most intrigued by the first one, #2460399, which shows the door system attached to typical MB folding bow setup (figs 1,2,3...), then later attached to a vertical bow rod, similar to final CJ-2A (figs 13, 14).

The photos don't show enough of all the metalwork to be sure, but it appears he might have a mix of both earlier (fig 1-3) type, and later (fig 13,14) type.

The 5th photo shows horizontal & vertical rods as in figs 13 & 14 (and identical to production CJ-2A)

While the last photo shows a hooked end, which conforms to the description of the "MB" attaching system of figs 1-3 (read the description for #38).

Would be nice to see the other end of that rod (and the other end of the rod in 11th photo)!

Glad my post has garnered such interest. I will take pics of the rod ends as soon as my camera battery is charged...it died as I was about to do so. The rod with the hook is sewn into the side canvas, but is straight with a single bolt hole on the opposite end.

I 'll get the extra pics later on today.

Here are additional photos plus a different door frame and stapled window frames (assumed for the door).

It's obvious from features of the canvas work and hardware that this top was manufactured at the same shops as those for the CJ-2A,CJ-3A 40's-50s Canvas tops.

the horizontal bar, from the windshield to the top bow is not MB/GPW
It looks like there is a combination of WWII and CJ there
On the Military hardware that bar clamps to the windshield as yours does at the bows the is a Y that goes around the front bow.
that bar also has a loop in it that accepts the top the bar in your side curtain, the bottom of that vertical bar gets bolted to the top hole of the front bow bracket.
I will try to dig mine out to get pictures

Are you planning on installing your top? I could use the hardware if you have no plans for it. I have a NOS Top and would like to close it in someday.
