Battery Voltage when cranking.
Hi,
My battery measures 6.5 Volt now it's fully charged but I'm trying to find out what this shouldn't drop below when cranking. A 12 volt battery shouldn't drop below 10 volts, so can I assume a 6 volt shouldn't drop below 4? Thanks Richard.

Better than:
4.8 volts with a 6-volt system
9.6 volts with a 12-volt system
18 volts with a 24-volt system
4.8 volts with a 6-volt system
9.6 volts with a 12-volt system
18 volts with a 24-volt system

Re: Battery Voltage when cranking.
Also, what diameter should the cables ideally be as I have no idea if mine are good enough or not? Positive cable measures 15mm and the Negative 12mm. Richard.

Re: Battery Voltage when cranking.
Hey Richard
Your cables seem too thin Original' positive' is at around 20mm without the cotton cover. Negative at about 15 mm no cover. Wire strands are fairly thick as well.
regards Nick

Hello Nick,
Hope all is well mate. I assume that could have an effect on cranking speed?? Will the likes of Nick Jeffreys stock the correct size ones?

Re: Battery Voltage when cranking.
Hey Richard
Yes the cable thickness certainly has an effect. You need them thicker to reduce resistence. Not sure about Nick Jeffries, but Cliffe at Universal will have them for sure.
regards Nick
ps Are you coming up to the Victory show this year?
