Wheel Studs

Post by Armyspecial » Sat Aug 23, 2014 9:13 am

Hi Gents,

What's the best thing to coat my bare metal wheel studs with? Left as they are they will rust.

Thanks

Richard.

Seriously, I just use a rattle can to touch up the nuts and threads after reassembly.

I was refering to the section that will sit under the nut when secured. Left bare it would rust solid i presume? In the end i coated the entire threads in Red Oxide. Nut still went on without resistance so all's good.

I was going to suggest simply priming then as you would any other part. I would put a coat or two of OD to protect the metal further...the nut will still go on without issue. After you reinstall the lug nuts, touch up as needed with more OD.
