Stecncil Color on the GPW/MB

Hello all

Quick question on the hood stenciling of the jeep.
Which was first, white or the blue?

And when was the later phased in?

I did my MB in white lettering.
My dad's jeep was in blue. He served in the PTO if that helps.

Was it done based on what theatre you were sent to?

I'm on the fence about lettering my GPW though.
Primarily my impression when I do a display is the Med. North Africa, Sicily and Italy.

Both Willys MB's and Ford GPW's came from the factory with blue markings, In 1945 Willys changed to white.
In the field, repaints were done in white.

Willys and Ford had different stencil fonts for the registration number, if you are going for the factory look.
