Spark Plug wires

Post by Tim52 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 10:31 am

I want to replace my existing spark plug wires with a more correct set.

Would my late '45 GPW have those angled connectors?

I have read about in-line suppressors, would those be applicable as well?

Thanks!

Try to find four A-6320 plug wire 90' suppressors (made by Erie?) marked "L7 10M E".

The late coil set up is a Continental "C11 VR 10M E" connector and is a 90" on the coil itself with a rubber boot on it...the distributor has a bell-shaped rubber boot on it.

That is my understanding but let's see if others can add to that....

Plug wire is 7MM black lacqured-cloth covered solid core wire.

PS...there are MANY of these out there with different part numbers and some different mfgers and I suspect some are for different vehicle applications than the jeep....

I installed a set from Ron, but had a problem with the ends that push into the distributor cap. It appeared that the insulation is a tad too thick and with the soldered metal tab on top of the insulation, it would not press in for love or money. I then re-crimped the ends and was finally able to get them in. It was good hour procedure that should of been a 10 minute one.

I called Ron to tell him that he might have other customers that might complain about it. I spoke to the other guy that was there and he said he would pass it on to Ron. Since I'm in business myself, I understand how easily this can happen. You trust your suppliers, and can't expect for Ron to inspect this kind of situation on every part he puts back into stock. His supplier is just perhaps 1 mm off in size that caused all this.

Other than that the set looks great!

I purchased a spark plug wire set from another dealer and the wires started to crack not long after I placed them in the proper location and prior to my first engine start attempt.
I will try Ron's product next but had to buy a set for a tractor from an auto parts store in the mean time.

Good Luck!!
Pat
