GPW Tool Box Locks - what color should they be?

Post by Quest Master » Sun Jan 26, 2014 12:44 pm

What color should the early keyed locks on tool boxes of the GPW be when they were installed at the factory? Plated or painted olive drab?
Thanks,

Hi Van,
What color should the early keyed locks on tool boxes of the GPW be when they were installed at the factory? Plated or painted olive drab?
The answer would be " yes ' based on the DoD of the GPW.

GPWs with Ford made bodies would have had tool box locks with an OD painted face and the rest of the lock natural or plated.

GPWs with ACM 1 or ACM2 type bodies would have had unpainted locks in natural or plated finish.

I am listing natural / plated finish due to at this time I am not sure which finish is correct. It would have been one or the other and not either.
