The Jeep was designed as a "man-O-war" and not a beauty contestant.

I'm not following you here, Joel?

I didn't write "choke" and "throttle" on the dash, and i have seen the exact same thing with the same type letters, including a "lights" marking near the light button, on other jeeps in Europe! Yes, the jeep was simple in construction, but nevertheless, the earlier style knobs were also marked to tell somebody what they were for, as were the panel light knob. And even though a trained driver would know everything he needed to, somebody also thought "Hey, we must have a diagram of the gear layout on the glove box door" - something a trained driver would most likely know very well!

My point is, it made good sense to mark the basic functions of the controls, should a non-trained driver find his way into the vehicle (this happens in war, i know that for a fact). So when there suddenly appears a substitute for the choke and throttle cables with no markings, it could be plausible that the function of the control was instead painted above. As i said, mine is not the only one that has it, but again...it could also be a part of the Esslingen rebuild.

Some of the Truncated Blank Metal Knobs I have are in G-630 packaging, they are the same as the G-503 blank knobs.
