Looks pretty darned good to me; Now can you make one with a third shifter for my overdrive stick?

Well Done!

I still have the old ones on my MB in pretty good condition. They are rough like suede, and a greenish, OD like color....

Hi All,
I found the remains of a gearshift gaiter when I started to restore my jeep. Since the beginning of this thread/post I have left this in a jar of MEK thinners to remove the grime and traces of oil etc.

Today, I removed it and left it to dry out, giving it a brush over with a suade brush - like carsten says, it has a greenish tinge which is definately the "smooth" side out, or "face" most noticable where it was sewn together.

Well - it appears I was wrong and the set I posted photos of previously would seem OK - except that I still need to have one made with the third OD lever added!
Oh! What tasks we set ourselves in the pursuit of our hobby!!
Regards

Ben, thanks for the pics. Sure looks like the trans boot is black & the t-case is green.

Jon, a little off topic, have you ever seen the boot for the prop shaft slip joint? Would love tO have a drawing of that one!

The Transmission boot was a gray color when NOS,the GPW Transfer boot was sort of an OD greenish, the neatsfoot oil darkened them, but has kept them soft and made them last for all these years. When these were originally installed in Jeeps they had no care and stiffened and weathered away. I paid Nabholtz $35.00 for the GPW transfer boot in the 70's.
