QUESTION TO THE FORUM Regarding this GPW!!!!

The driver seat is set up for a large mouth tank! My March 42 DoD would tell me I should have a small mouth in it. The purist says, get the small mouth and replace the seat pan, but the tight budget guy in me says, it came with a large mouth seat pan(and the seat back has the beautiful Script F stamped into it) so put a large mouth tank in it. I know that a seat pan is only about $30 or so and will be easy enough to replace. I'm sure this will end up a personal decision, but I'd like to hear the pro's and con's.

Thanks,
Andy

If you are not fussy, you could leave it alone but if you already have a small mouth tank & you are doing body work for the sake of $30.00 I would replace the pan.

Nice job on the floors also.

All,
Does anyone know where I can get a passenger side rear corner patch panel? I don't need the entire passenger side, just the corner that wraps around to the back panel. I tried to get one from Greene's Panel Works, but he just shut down due to health reasons. Any help would be appreciated. I am looking at figuring out how I can repair the original sheet metal, but it is pretty far gone. I'll post a picture of what I have to work with later tomorrow.
Thanks in advance!

All,
As per my post yeasterday, here are a couple pictures of the original rear quarter, passenger side. Any suggestions would be helpful. The original owners welded a sheet of 18 gauge over this to apparently "beef" it up. I saved it in case it was useable as a repair panel.

Thanks,
Andy

You can try asking thes guys who have posted on this link viewtopic.php?f=4&t=215661" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who have used reproduction tubs, they may have what you are seeking on their old one.

Failing that you could post your photo in the WTB section & you may get a hit, finally have a look on the un-restored jeep forum & see what Michael aka ILikePlanesToo he repaired that same section, your son in law may be able to to the same.

Good luck

John,
Thanks much for the link to "ilikeplanestoo" 1943 GPW restoration. I have renewed faith that I can repair that panel and use some of the old "patch" they put on in the process. This forum and all you folks that give sage advice have been a godsend!

Take care!

Not sure if anyone is still watching this, but I'll post here first. Found this unidentified holder on the inside of the passenger side near the front support. I'm guessing it might be something added by a previous owner, but if someone has an idea I'm open to it.
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,
It's looking good :!:
You are correct in that it is an extra piece. What it goes to who knows. A canvas door :?:
Good luck :!:

Mike,
never thought of it being a part of maybe a canvas door. Thanks for that input. Appreciate it. Hoping to have this old girl running in spring of 2015!
