Can anyone help us out?

I've read this thread

https://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f ... 7&start=90 and others but haven't been able to get close. Of course, I may have missed it somewhere.

Hello,

the drawing you are talking about here refers to the later Link- Belt winch, which was discussed to replace the Braden late in the war but the war ended before it could happen.
This is why this drawing isn't connected with the Braden winch and does not appear in the typical publications (Becker, Lloyd White).
The drawing shows f.e. a guide roller to be installed on the front bumper... this also never happened with the Braden.

I once had a copy of the entire drawing (it is huge, DIN A2) but it was destroyed by water.
As far as I remember, the measurements were not readable on my copy, too.

So, all together, the rope on the right hand fender was planned for the later Link- Belt winch, not or the WWII Braden.

Regards,

EJB that's really great information - I did not know that. It is a shame that the drawing was ruined. I would love to have the dimensions anyway just for knowledge and perhaps to mount the footmans on the fender. Understanding that it was a change that would have occurred after the end of WWII.

Would happen to know though the month and year this was proposed? Anything else worth noting? Many thanks EJB

I know that I bought the copy of the drawing from a dealer.

But heaven help me, I can't remember who it was... must have been some 12 -15 years ago.
Maybe I'll find something... give me some time.

Illustr8r,

I have a capstan with the footman loops installed on the fender for the rope. I can send you a picture via email along with the measurements on where they are located on my jeep. Please PM your email. If your willing, will you please post the pictures for future reference?

Hey Guys,

I went out and looked at my footman loops. I only have 4 total, 2 on top, 2 on lower fender. Looking at the posted drawing, it appears the rope should be secured with a total of 4 loops on the fender top. This makes sense because the rope may want to "fold over and out" if it ever gets wet and the jeep is being driven.

I have never had the rope fall or slide off of the fender, even when wet. Still, I may end up putting 2 more on the top of the fender for good measure.

I did take measurements and photographs. Please see attached. I listed the measurements in the photograph details.
