Graham I have already started on making the covers. Since you were kind enough to post pictures all you will have to do is pay for the shipping. I still need to find out if the round head slotted attaching screws are number 8 or 10 and the length.

Thanks,

Leonard

Would anyone have the measurements of the 3 pieces that replaced the hinge.

Also. distance in from each end and the side.

Much appreciated.

What about a TOVE filterette with the friction type cover? The insides of the OP's filterette look exactly like my TOBE, only instead of the data plate being on the support strap, mine is on the cover. But my cover just slips over the support strap and has a small clip on the top and bottom to allow friction to keep it in place. A cutout at the top and bottom for wires coming in and out.

Would they have gone from this slat filterette to a friction cover and then the hinge type? So that the covers didn't get lost? Like maybe these did?

I can look for photos or take some of mine, but it has been discussed on this forum before if you want to search. Found it, here is the link to photos of my friction top filterette.

Hey Robert. thanks for that. Can you explain to me what's meant by "Friction Cover". I always thought they were fitted with a latch of sorts... either a side spring catch, screws etc...

Cheers

To to that thread that is in my previous post. It is the conversation on what type of filterette I had in my April 42 GPW. I don't know that anything was resolved in that thread, but there are internal photos and photos of my cover. In an entirely different thread about items that are "weird" on my April 42 GPW, Tom W. tells me that my friction cover is correct for my DOD, but that the TOBE friction cover was only in used for less than two months. So I guess I got one of the weird ones.

Anyway, the solid cover has the data plate riveted to the cover and the entire cover is one solid piece that just slip over the inner workings of the filterette and slight indents in the cover provide tension to the top and the bottom of the large support strap that holds the capacitors. No ninge, no screws, nothing to keep it on other than the tension on the strap.

If the photos in the previous thread don't help, I can provide more. The inner workings of these filterettes in question in this post sure reminded me of mine and I thought maybe the friction cover was an option since it was a slat or early MB/GPW thing.

Let me know if I can help.

Can anybody provide a good pic of the ink stamps on the individual filters? I’d like to try and recreate those.
