Hi JR
You are not wrong about MIG welders, they are the greatest, I was very average with a stick welder ,but the MIG almost makes you an instant pro, ..Ive replaced the front spring hangers x4 ,,front gussets,, and filled all the holes from the rhd conversion, and it came out great ,, Its very satisfying to see the end result

Tony,
I'm starting on my front gussets this afternoon, just finished off the Shock mount.....first is lunch......
I put some updated pics on JeepDraw.
http://jeepdraw.com/Restoration1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Not 100% happy with the way the rivet looks .......too rounded....maybe I cut it off too short......but I sure managed to do the same crappy welds with the stick joining both halves of that mount together, it fits right in with the opposite side..
Layed up the primer...... bit heavy handed there, but it's all be blasted off when the frame repairs are completed.

No Mikey.... No roasted thumb this time, . s'matta a fact I almost cut it off instead......(nah!. not really!) but it gave me a bit of a fright when the thin cut off disk jammed and tore itself apart. It was a good thing I had a firm grip.
These are the photos you don't usually see when you do a restoration.....

Hi Jon

Lucky that was not an 8inch grinder,, very dangerous,,

After looking at the job still ahead of you I now realise how lucky I was to get a jeep in such good nic, It was shed stored for 30 years after being given about 15 coats of gloss green paint top and underneath, it looked a bit ugly but was very well preserved. I cant believe what people to their chassis to make things fit!!!!

you are doing a great job

Tony, there are days I wish I had one just like you found, but I took pity on this piece of crap....
Got a great surprise today when I cut up the remains of the front horns and gussets. I wanted to use the old spring mounts as the threads were excellent.
Guess what I found ? Haven't seen these in the flesh before..

I took off my rear spring shackle mounts and there was the F mark underneath them as well. They are pretty worn out so I have to replace them. I will keep them however.
