Bringing my Jeep into the 21st Century

Post by REG » Sun Sep 18, 2016 1:02 pm

We all like to encourage others to appreciate our hobby.

It is especially important to encourage the younger generation as we are only guardians of our Jeeps and the youngsters will have them one day!
It is always worth while (I feel) to engage with youngsters and show them what's in the engine bay, but you can' be with your vehicle all the time and who wants to hear an old crusty like me?.

At a local show I plastered the engine bay with "QR" codes. These are found on most products nowadays.
They can be read by youngsters with their mobile phones. It engages them and reaches them a thing or two.

The photo below shows what the engine bay looked like. Most said simple things like "Radiator - this is where hot water from the engine is cooled by the big fan" or words to that effect.

I shan't say what this QR code says - grab your smart phone and read it (you will need a QR code reader)
Each code is printed onto magnetic paper and given a quick waterproof lacquer spray

This is really a great idea REG. I had downloaded the app to read these codes a few months back, but have never used it before. Well, now I have. Read the information on my phone no problem from the computer screen. Now I am in the know.

I've seen a QR code reader, how do you MAKE them?

Just do a google search for "make qr code" ( https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=c ... 0qr%20code )and you'll find many web sites that will allow you to interactively create QR codes and download them as images or PDFs.

The trick is to print them onto cheap magnetic paper and seal them with a lacquer so the rain doesn't affect them
