Well I was rearranging the ham radio shack, and found I had some extra shelf space so I decided to dig out the Audio amp AM-2060 and the prc77 after looking at it to see if i could gut the inside and rewire it "the amplifier" for 12 volts instead of 24V I took the top off, and said wait a minute maybe i can find a 24 volt power supply. So looking for a PP2953/u. 250 dollars was the cheapest I could find LOL
!well i came across an 8 amp 24 volt for 52 dollars and made an offer for $32.00 and the company accepted it! I tested it and it produced 27.9 volts with an input of 124 volts AC "it was rated at 115 volts" I dug out my Isotap transformer which has reduced output, so i picked the 113 volt tap to plug it into and the power supply produces 25.5 volts at that input voltage, right within the specs of the manual.I plugged it in and hooked everything up and it fired right off after sitting for 8 years! now just to get a 6 meter antenna and see if i can find anyone on 51.00 Mhz around here.73'Jim KB1PFL

Jimmy,
It seems like a sound approach. Too bad you are not near me if not we could have talked on 51Meg. I just converted a H250 handset to work with P200 Motorola in addition to sincgars and other 6m rigs. Dying to try it out over longer distances than 75 feet.

27.9v is well within the mil-std-1275 power spec and that radio will run fine. 28.5 is fine and I wouldn't be surprised if it ran fine all the way up to 30v.

Fired up after sitting for 8 years! When you consider that this radio was introduced over a half century ago that's not so bad now is it? LOL
