Thanks, your a great help. Sorry for the lack of pictures. Every time I log into photo bucket the advertisements completely locks up my pc. Haven't loaded any pics since the G went to photo bucket. Maybe I can get it figured out but I'm not big on computer stuff. It will take me a couple of days to look into the information you provided but I will let you know what I find. No offense to you suggestions taken. I'm a firm believer in starting with the very basics and going up from there. My batteries are wired up correctly but I will double check that I'm wiring up the radio power cord correctly.

Ok, I'm an idiot. I checked how I had it wired and sure enough it was 12 volt. Hooked it up correctly and smoking gone. Everything seems to be working fine. Thanks W Winget, now it's time to have a drink

I am glad it was that easy to fix. I have quit counting the things I have done wrong over time. As long as it works in the end, you don't have to tell anyone and you can take it as a learning experience! 8)

Me too...sorry to have to have even asked about the 12V, but it just didn't make sense, it was feeding back 24V through the foot
Glad it's fixed, hope there was zero impact onthe gear.
