BC-659 Radio help ...

Post by Fifinella » Mon Jan 22, 2018 4:48 am

Hi,

I am in the process of restoring a BC-659 Jeep Radio for my Piper L-4 and looking for two web antenna hold-down straps (in red circles) as shown in the attached picture. Could anyone help me with possible replacements or the OD webbing material and rivets to make new ones?

Thank you,
Keri-Ann

Not mine and no relation to the seller. Mods...remove my post if it's out of place.

They sold for $40.00. Any other place or ideas to make these?

Thanks for any help.

have weebee webing make some. and by that i mean, find out the width and distance to from tip to the snap. have them chop it off about 6 inchs, and you can cut it to length and hand sew it.

Contact the seller and see if you can get dimensions and a profile tracing of the brackets before he ships them. Or, ask them to pass your email on to the new owner...then you can contact them for the same to get a set fabbed up. Although, unless you can do the cutting, drilling and bending yourself, a metal shop will probably charge you more than the $40 these went for...but at least you'll have some. Then like Brian suggested, have the webbing made and attach to your new brackets.

Best of luck - Tom

Hello.

I do not know if Jean-Marc in France still has bags of BC-728.
The straps are a bit longer than the BC-659.

Thank you everyone.

The metal brackets I have are fine and I have the Lift-The-Dots. I just need the webbing which looks like WeeBee Webbing has the correct item. Now I need to find the "C" shaped end covers in black and the rivets as in the picture post above.

Thank you so much. That, HT&C, is a great site or repair parts. Now to order and fix the radio! BTW, WeeBee did not have the Type-C ends.

Thank you everyone for the help.
