Japanese manufacture JBC1000

Post by Radtech » Thu Nov 30, 2017 5:59 pm

I suppose I can waste some space as well with something fairly rare.NOT FOR SALE Japanese manufactured JBC1000 radio set made by Nippon Electric Corp. in 1952 number 371 of about 400 made. All components including the the tubes, except for the 3A4s which NEC never manufactured, are NEC manufacture.Perfect working condition with all NOS accessories. There is speculation that these were manufactured by NEC to augment supplies in Korea.Feel free to post pictures of your JBC1000 here as well.

Yes amazing!
It looks like that this the early BC-1000 Model A design with the additional screw and the two plugged holes as shown with the arrows.

This is perhaps a partial technology transfer from the US to Japan/NEC using many parts made in the USA.
Or perhaps NEC was using the early model A tooling, transferred from the USA.(very unlikely for 400 units only)
This is very common in technology transfer programs.
Nice find !

All internal parts that are marked are marked NEC with European type lettering. There would have been no need for US parts as for that matter the sets could have been made here in the US with Army Signal Corps contracts.Like the French made BC-1000 sets made entirely in France with French components.
