I’m offering a Reproduction HO-17 I built for my SCR-399 for sale @ $500.00 (OBO), that amount to be sure it goes to a good home. It’s very authentic and I thing a good looking and functional reproduction. It could also be considered a movie prop too as it can be partially knocked down, allowing any wall, roof or part of a roof to be left off for viewing. Yet, strong enough to be supported on just the 4 corners when bolted together. Assembled it takes 75 square feet of floor space, fully knocked down just 24.
A DESCRIPTION
A close approximation to the original shelter, but 3" wider (miss-measured) and 4" taller (intentionally) it was designed to be 3 bolted together modules, with each module further broken down into floor, walls, and roof. 3/8” Bolts hold the walls, floor, and roof together, with 2/3” lag bolts securing the walls to the floor. Basic construction is wood with external walls and roof covered in aluminum to help create a faraday cage, and keep things light. Walls, doors, and ceiling are insulated with 1.5" Styrofoam and works remarkably well. It fits nicely on the back of a CCKW, and one person can assemble the entire shelter by themselves.
What's offered is the basic house, receiver chest table, ventilation fan, and internal cable Panduit. The service dollies come with it too. A reproduction CH-88 is offered for no extra cost. No other SCR-399 components are included, even though some antenna mounts and bases are in some of the included pictures.
Now the disclaimers. Due to unforeseen events, the unit spent way too much time out of doors which damaged the paint finish (OK just a poor paint job, I admit it) and minor rain damage to the street side door* panel and the next panel just aft of it. This is mostly the 5/32" interior paneling and easily replaced. There was some shipping damage to the lower front which can be seen as a bend externally and damaged wood internally near the floor. That too should be an easy repair as any wall can be removed without complete disassembly of the house. Also included is a complete photo record of the assembly which will give insights into it's assembly and repairs.
Cleanest transport is by tilt bed wrecker as it rolls on and off with the included dollies/casters. It can be broken down in about 3 hours and will fit on a 4' x 8' trailer nicely as well.
PM me with any questions.
Gary
* Interestingly, the street-side door and body area was also significantly damaged on the original shelter I rebuilt for my SCR-399 project. It must have been a weak point on all of them. The 1945 York-Hoover-built unit I rebuilt is the reason I am offering the reproduction.

Re: FS: HO-17 Shelter (reproduction)
Yes and it is, and the reason I am offering my repo (I hate the idea of salvaging it). The original is a York-Hoover made HO-17 from August 1944, being modified for the MRC-2A teletype communication system as the operations shelter by Barker & Williamson on a contract dated 1946. I found it two years ago on Craigslist as a "Vintage Camper, with bed. Rather then a restoration its a repair, replacing the roof, street-side wall, and part of the front.
As for pictures, Ill make that a project for next year, maybe. The pictures I have are to large to load at this point.
