Teletype 14/15 range adjustment help

Post by lynchgj » Fri Sep 29, 2017 2:55 pm

I have a question for teletype types about adjustments. I have a 14 style reperforator (TT-53) that appears to be functional except it isn’t receiving characters properly. It does stop when the magnets pull in. I’m using an RY tape through a 14TD that drives my TG-7 just fine. I have a copy of 165B (CH1) and a few of the mentioned tools.

I’m assuming that like the TMDE I am familiar with calibrating, only a few adjustments would be needed to resolve this problem, but that doesn’t stand out to me in the manual. Would anyone have a “cheat sheet” of checks one could make to restore proper operation in this case. I’m thinking (always my first error) that magnet location on the mount, the mount rotation adjustment, and range finder adjustments should be all that is needed. But so far, that has alluded me.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Gary
