Re: BC 1000 Radio Backpack
The BC 1000 had its own carrying harness and there was no need for a pack frame.I don't recall ever seeing a WWII radio on a pack frame except the SCR619 which had a mount bolted to the pack board.

Hello'
If you go into eBay and put this in you will find a very good picture of the BC 1000/SCR 300, "WWII B&W Photo US Army Officer & Radio Op WW2 / 1037".
Hope this helps.

Re: BC 1000 Radio Backpack
WW-II sets that used the standard Ordnance pack board in addition to the SCR-619 were the SCR-177-(*) and the AN/TRC-2. I have seen one or two photos of a BC-659 (P/O SCR-609) on a pack board but none of the TM's mention it. The only ones that come to mind where the pack board loads are detailed are SCR-619 and AN/TRC-2.

No, I think that (where trucks were not available) the radios were on mule packs. The pack boards were mostly for Jerry cans.

The only radio that I have ever seen on a pack board was the SCR619 which had a mount FT505 I think bolted to the pack board.

Re: BC 1000 Radio Backpack
BC-1000 on a packboard would be a logical solution when the carrying harness was not available. I guess also that it was a lot more comfortable than actually wearing the canvas harness. About other radios on packboards, here is a pic of a BC-620 on a packboard. It is identifiable as a BC-620, instead of a BC-659, because unlike the BC-659 it has no straps on top of the case to hold the antenna when it is not in use. Also the antenna is the thinner AN-45 type, instead of BC-659's AN-29-C with cap & chain. The portable power supply CS-79 case does not appear to be used, so I guess batteries BA-39 and BA-40 are being carried inside the canvas bag (1936 musette bag?) hanging on the chest. Finally, interesting how the antenna is mounted, clearly another modification. This looks like a pic from a manual. Anyone knows which manual? Best Regards
