PPN-1A Eureka reproduction...

Post by deacon2ad » Fri Apr 06, 2012 11:57 am

Hello all,

I figured I would share my latest project with you all, I'm sure plenty would like to see it.

I had a one week deadline to make the Military show and sale at the Olympic Flight Museum in Washington. One of our group members (Friends of Willy & Joe) has a pretty elaborate 82nd ABN, 505th Pathfinder display. However he did not have a PPN-1A, and has been meaning to buy one the past few years. After a long chat with a fellow from Holland, he decided 15,000 was out of his price range.

I told him I would bring one for him to look at, and buy if he liked it. He didn't even remove it from the bag, and said we have a deal.

Enough rambling on my part, here are some photos:

Note: I did make an antenna, however I completely forgot to get decent photos of it before I took it up to Washington.
Soon enough I will get photos of it all set up in the field with his display.

I made the bag in the other photographs.. It sure put my sewing machine through hell!

I would have made a bag for the second Eureka, however it took the better part of a day to make it, and its hard enough getting my times worth out of the sets.

15,000 USD for a PPN1-1A... are you sure... wow... that's a bit pricey!

Nice looking repro... what does the Antenna look like?

Cheers

I'm looking for a PPN-1A bag (original or repro) for my living history group.
At the moment we have PPN-1A replica (home-made) and 7 holophane light replicas (lamps + tripods, also home-made).

Hi everyone!

I’m currently searching for following items:

1. Both adjustment knobs with the white arrow indicator plates.
2. Connector plug which is located on the cable connected to the antenna.
3. 3.pieces of wire pegs for securing the antenna barduns.
4. 2.pieces of the PL-55 plugs for the headphones. ( I presume that the correct plug?)

I hope that some of you can help me out with specially the two first items on my search list, as I have committed to help a museum to complete their set before they open the museum this spring.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Do anyone know where its possible to obtain the male connector to the aerial antenna cable to the PPN-1A ?
Its a RC-1077, but the configuration that was original used I have not been able to find.
And the same for the knobs I have highlighted in red on the attached photo:
