Hi Syl:

Yes, I found them attached to a different electrically-shielded but not waterproof 6 volt generator that came off a Willys 134 cu. in. jeep engine which powered a Navy in-ship stationary generator. I've slowly gathered from hither and yon all the parts to assemble a waterproof 6 volt jeep generator.

Last week I finally had the chance to mount my MP-50. Oddly enough, I found some welded up holes that matched the bolt pattern of the MP50 mount perfectly!

Another G member posted a picture of his dad satnding in front of this jeep with the MP-50 located in the rear just as I have done with mine.

Looks a "shooin" to me Farrel.....those holes match exactly and i reckon that an MP50 was mounted there originally.

Thats where my bracket is going on my 42MB buddy

So, what is the differance in antenna bases in WW2, there is the big heavy duty spring one as in these photos, and there is the smaller rubber wippy style one with the ceramic brown base. Whats the difference ????

Here is just to show a few. The difference is the construction and application. Some require larger insulators to keep the transitter from grounding and shorting out.

I have a MP-65 on at the moment, do I really need a MP-48 to be correct for a war time jeep ??

No you do not,
a MP-65 is proper equipment for WWII
That is going with the proper radio

I had an MP-65 a few weeks ago.................... then my friend thought it was a good idea to push on it to move the jeep and broke it

Thats good, as the MP48 is very expensive for what it is. So why is it very common to see jeeps with the MP48 on, rather than the 65, is it just for looks ???? As it does look the business, well, for a antenna anyway.....

Last year I've had one original NOS MP48 from Italy at 300 Euro. It's a lot of money ok, but considering that the current cost of repro is around 200/250 $ my question is ..... which is the real most expensive model, repro or original ???
MP65 is a late model, correct from mid 44, but I've seen many 42/43 vehicles to use this model .....completely wrong!

Just in so right is ok for me, until I find a MP48, but not in a great hurry. Am I right in saying, the 3 antenna sections for my MP65, will not fit the MP48...

As for positioning the MP-50 mount, I did have it on the left side for a while, but found in the garage, kept banging my hip on it, ouch , and eventually, while on manoeuvres in a wood, I nearly tore it off on a tree . So it was then moved to the back, tight to the Jerry can holder, and sitting on the grab handle. The footman loop was moved to the top. There it stayed.
