I would love to be there! It looks like we're moving again. MZ-1 was stored a couple of weeks ago.

No events for me this year... I hope to be back on track with shows and meets next year.

I'll have to bring my MZ-2. It hasn't been out of the garage since the 2013 convention.
Not to hijack the thread even more, but what about your bicycle for the Motorcycle, Scooter, Bicycle Showcase next week at Camp Petaluma if you still have it? Gotta be a real military bike.

I just spent a week at Camp Delta with my fully restored CJV35 and did not find many people interested in it at all. I did talk to a few folks that were very nice but most were just trying to steal parts from me so they could re-sell for a profit. I was kind of disappointed with the event. Long trip for me for not much fun compared to the shows in AZ. No organization no communication with participants etc. I guess since i am an outsider so i was just overlooked. I also heard that there not going back to Tower Park Next Year. I will not be going back anytime soon.

Mike,
Sorry you didn't have a good time. Did you see the military radio display and demos Friday and Saturday? Regarding no organization or communication with participants, we posted a detailed info sheet by each restroom and one was put in each camper packet by the office folks. The Military Vehicle Collectors of California as promoters had a HQ booth open Friday and Saturday with our Secretary, Treasurer, and sometimes a regional VP and President present to answer questions about the event or the club. We communicate the hell out of the Fall and Spring meets on www.MVCCNews.net and on the Events forum here on the G, and on Steelsoldiers.com. We do not use a PA system like on M.A.S.H. or in an event hall.

This is the smaller of our two swap meet/vehicle gatherings with the April meet being over twice the size with people attending from many states and several countries. The Fall meet has always been laid back with not a lot on the schedule and I saw regulars from six states besides ours, and a regular from Australia. In April we usually see people from Japan, UK and/or Europe, and from more states. Next April at the new location we will have so much on the schedule it will be hard to fit it all in without some overlap. This includes two themed vehicle displays, a WWII mortar demo, offsite MV excursions and one or two for the ladies, evening catered meals, and more. Fundamentally these are buying and selling events with tire kicking and socializing.

Yes, Tower Park's new rules don't work for us any more. The announcement of the new April location was very well received and we had a large turnout at our MVCC meeting (advertised as all welcome). Our Wagonmaster has over 70 sites and cabins with names on them and we have not advertised the new venue outside of the announcement at the meet last week, and it was in the MVCC newsletter 10 days ago. We will likely fill the 180 RV sites and cabins in our group discount block, plus many dozens of dry and power/water tents sites. We can have more RV sites than that if we need them, at no increased rate right up to April.

News about that event will be in the Events forum on the G soon.

I did see the radio demonstration and was very impressed with it. I appreciated all the effort to set up and run that. I was expecting something different at this show. I did not realize it was more of a swap meet than a show. I was frustrated because i did not know about the gathering down by the pool till it was breaking up. Nor did i know about the meeting until i heard the clapping. But either way my bad for not being more proactive i guess.

I run into people who don't see the Activities Schedule or remember it. I've been creating and printing those for years and publishing in the MVCC newsletters before the meets, on www.MVCCNews.net on the event pages, we have the camping office hand them out and this year they put them in the packet for each camper (I hope), and I tape them by the restroom entries. But not everybody sees it or they forget about it in the rush to get in, set up, and start selling and shopping. So don't feel alone in not knowing about the meeting or where the club HQ was. BTW, next April the HQ and Quartermaster tables will be open for more days. We always have a group meeting, usually Saturday morning but once on Friday morning.

The MV photo by the Pavilion was cooked up at the meet by Chuck Reuter. He went around in the morning telling MV people to assemble at 3. If he didn't make the rounds at 2:45 to remind folks, I would have forgotten! Many MVs were not in the photo. It's hard to get some people into their MVs when there is buying and selling going on. Our April meets usually have displays and excursions pre-planned and more attendees know about them before they get there.

I didn't want to pre-plan a themed display or photo shoot because of not knowing how many "regular" campers would be in that area of the campground where the extra room is. Good thing it happened Friday before the weekend arrivals. Lots of folks arrived after 3 and Saturday it was nearly full over there and we would have disrupted them.

Big file, let me know if you cant see the whole line. There is a Dodge on the right:

Typical scene under the trees. Chuck Reuter from Tehachapi had lots of jeep parts, good prices on most:
