Mule, Not sure I understand what you wrote about the shipping. Is the tent being shipped from Armbruster or from you in Colorado?

Me in Colorado.I bought if last year from a guy moving to another state and he used it two or three times and me once, the poles break down into about 5' sections so if its needing to be shipped they would bundle ok.

Re: WTB: Command or pyramid Tents
Several factors determine the choice of whether to go with an original tent or a reproduction.
Condition, of course, as a vintage tent MIGHT have problems with the condition of the canvas (but it might not) vs the possibility that the reproduction is constructed of canvas that does not match the weight, weave, etc of the original or the dimensions are a bit off.
There is the drive for authenticity - depending on the goal of the impression one might desire to have an original tent. Others don't care - some wanting a army tent to set up even choose tents of the wrong era due to cost or availability.
Price is a major factor - how deep are your pockets? Sticker shock keeps many from even utilizing a correct and possible original tent. It is an expensive hobby ---- you have to realize that you have to pay to play.
If you are picky concerning the M1942 Command Post Tent - - just check out the windows. The lowest level of reproduction vendors don't even include the plastic windows. It looks like the Armbruster tent uses a simple clear plastic which is an immediate signal of an incorrect reproduction. The originals are not that clear and have a fiber weave pattern visible in the original window inserts. No reproduction company appears to have mastered an authentic looking window insert.
Bottom line - to each his own. You know what you are displaying - how thick is your skin? Some observers don't know one army tent from another, others don't care and then there's the obsessive folks that will point out any shortcomings of your display. Try not to take criticisms personally and don't apologize for your choices.
Set your impression and hobby goals and watch your budget. Sometimes reality dictates ones choices.

Re: WTB: Command or pyramid Tents
Armbruster was one of the original manufactures of these tents during ww1 and ww2, still made on the same machines and has 135+ years behind them. I went with "Original" canvas on my Chevy G506 for the cargo cover which was quoted as "NOS and in fantastic shape with no rips, holes or rot. One small area of rot and it was a nightmare to keep fixing and ended up in the trash, same with the NOS end curtains from another source, they lasted twice as long as the cover and they were in NOS packing. The canvas shop I tried to have fix the troop cover simply stated that in his 50+ years working with canvas is you cant be sure of 35 year old canvas let alone 70 year canvas. End result is would you make your 70 year old grand mother stand out in the weather trying to protect you and your gear.....................................just saying

New doesn't always mean better.
Anecdotal generalizations don't always give the correct answer to a specific situation.
Would you make your baby sister stand out in the weather trying to protect you and your gear .... just sayin'!
One needs to do their homework, shop around then lay their money down and get some skin in the game.

Re: WTB: Command or pyramid Tents
Preserving is totally different than restoring --- ever hear of Canvak?
Not all old canvas is rotten, if well cared for.
Decent vintage tents if not abused and if stored in a good environment will give many years of service.
Too bad about your cargo cover sewn on original sewing machines out of "NOS" canvas. Old NOS canvas poorly stored will degrade and probably fail.
