ff anyone here is in the Eastern US and is interested in USAAF or RAF (and associated ground support thereof) reenacting please contact me. We will be portraying the 12th Bomb Group flying B-25's out of RAF Deversoir in Egypt late in the summer of 1942. We are working with a small RAF unit as well for this and will have a large camp adjacent to the ORIGINAL control tower from RAF Goxhill in England. And yes we do get access to the tower during the weekend.

We will have a motorpool for servicing of Jeeps and generators, The Squadron Operations tent will have a working 12 line switchboard with field telephones run throughout the camp. Officer, enlisted and WAC quarters tents (we camp on site), chow, mission briefings, a weather station and more. Here's the link to the museum website: http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org/wotb/index.html and to our unit: http://capitalwingaps.org/

The first picture is amazing, its like stepping back into WW2, even down to the R.A.F. wing commander smoking his pipe. Fantastic, pity i live this side of the pond.

Mark,

Thank you we do try. Hoping to do even better this year. Right now I know they are sourcing furniture and other fixtures to set the tower up as it was.

42swing,

Yes you do. German paratroopers came out of her last year in a couple of round chute demonstration jumps. Not many people are qualified to jump round chutes at airshows. Those are a rare and crazy breed. AND they do it in full WW2 German kit at that. Hoping this year to see the American team, two years ago they were rained out from performing.

All,

I'm a member of the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team. The same group that has been jumping at this show for several years now. We do traditionally jump US but a few years ago had the rare privilege of jumping as Fallshirmjaeger from the Museum's Ju52. As far as I know, the only group to make static line parachute jumps from a Ju52 since the war. Last year we were scheduled to do it again but the aircraft had some difficulties so we jumped from Tinker Belle instead (the show must go on...). That is why we were outfitted as Fallshirmjaeger but jumped a US aircraft.

Tinker Belle is a a great aircraft and her crew and owners are the best. As I'm sure you know, the C-46 was used not only as a transport aircraft flying the "Hump" during WWII but also as a jump platform for the "Operation Varsity" jumps. So there is historical precedent for jumping from her.

We were looking forward to a repeat appearance this year as well but it looks like the museum's budget won't allow it. We have been treated very well by everyone at the museum these past years and look forward to returning next year.

In the mean time look for us to perform at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's airshow in June in Reading, Pennsylvania and at the Warbirds Over Monroe event in November in Monroe North Carolina which is Tinker Belle's home town.

And... if you ever want to join the "rare and crazy breed" you can always attend one of our jump schools and we'll teach you how to do it!

Thank you,
Henry

I echo the sentiment about Tinker Belle and her crew. Our group is part of the Home Front at Reading each year and have enjoyed the jump display from her. Last year my family and I had a delightful dinner one night with Tinks pilot and Bill Reilly (Bud Abbott). Bill had us all in stitches the whole evening amid swapping war stories of shows past. Had breakfast the following morning with Yankee Ladys crew, another superb group of folks.
