Can you help ID this medal?

Post by Randy G » Mon Sep 12, 2016 3:26 pm

Does anyone have a clue as to what this medal is and what time period? There are no markings on the reverse. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Randy

Randy,

I'm thinking it's an unused, generic, civilian rifle marksmanship medal c. 1930s-50s offered by a trophy/medals business. The pin on the back may offer more clues as to vintage. The lack of organization markings/text makes me lean towards private purchase, civilian. You see this kind of stuff relating to other athletic activities as well.

Black/gold are considered normally to be Army colors.
Could be an ROTC award of some type...
