Hatchet Cover-Need Help With Vintage

Post by pjones » Sun Sep 04, 2016 7:35 am

I have been trying to round up a few hatchet covers and came across this one at the flea market this morning. Unfortunately I can't make out the date. Is it ww2 or Korean era?

I'm thinking WW2, 44-45.

This is one of those step back a few feet and see what the "dots" form... The muddle of spots at what is probably a date appear to be the same at the end -- what you'd expect from a "44" for example, but not a "50, 51, 52" etc. It's also OD#7 -- correct for '44. Hardly conclusive but it is what it is.

Jeff,
I took a close up of the brass snap. In case it doesn't show well it says "KliKit" and underneath that it appears to say "PuLL". Does that shed any more light on the cover?
