I bought one but doubt its a genuine ww2 style.

Dave,

There's an issue red/gold/white USMC WWII K-9 "Dog Platoon" patch that's part of a series of Fleet Marine Force Pacific (FMF-PAC) shoulder patches. Some army units may have had theater-made patches during WWII but I think most Scout Dog etc. patches are Korean War and later. Certainly very few were mass produced. Talk about pricy stuff...
