Remembering WWII Event Reenactor Update

Hope everyone is enjoying your summer. A update to the event is long past due. We are on schedule and things are coming together. Jessica Courter has just updated the web page as well as the facebook page. Please take a look and get an update at

http://dominionskills.com/remembering-wwii/

https://www.facebook.com/RememberingWWII

Current head count of attending reenactors July 18th, 2014

2 British

10 GI

28 German

2 French

2 Civilian

I know several units that have not registered yet. Just keep in mind you have to register to attend. Also if you want the free meals and blanks you need to be registered at least 3 weeks before the event. Availability is limited.

A few words on the battle scenario. This is a little different from normal. The city will shut down the main road through town for 30 mins per battle. We will be fighting from one end of town to the courthouse, 7 blocks. The goal is to keep it realistic as possible. Yes, fighting in peoples yards and around mini vans does not help (we will try and get vehicles moved). What looks worse is shooting until your ammo is out with no cover to speak of while 40 guys blast you from cover. Then you finally die once 3 grenades land at your feet, a halftrack is on top of you and 10 guys are about to grab you and…well, use your imagination here. So by all means die, get dragged off into an alley and come right back so you can die 3 more times.

At the camps, food will be provided Friday night and Saturday morning. I will be using my M1937 field stove for those 2 meals only. If you can help cook, clean or serve I need all the help I can get. Just email me directly Tranham@hotmail.com

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

ATTENTION: Pre-Registration is ending Sept 6th 2014 if you wish to receive blanks and food for the event. You may continue to register after this date but we cannot guarantee all the perks. Remembering WWII is a free event.

Go here to register http://dominionskills.com/jointoday/

Things are moving up quickly. We need more reenactors to attend to make this one of the best events in the South. Pass it along to your friends. How many events give reenactors blanks and up to four meals at a free event? How many events let you fight seven blocks trough a downtown?  How many have live 40’s music? Large swap meet? WWII Veterans lectures? All this and top notch period vehicles and encampment displays. Don’t miss out! The weather is about to cool down and it’s time to pull your gear out of the garage.

NEW! We want to see you and your best gear at this event. Extra blanks with be awarded for best impressions, best encampment displays, farthest traveled reenactor, etc. Show offs welcome.

Correction from previous email. The web address for mothballs TN vintage clothes and accessories was incorrect. Please visit them atwww.mothballstn.etsy.com and then stop in and say hello.

I would like to thank Anthony Courter and his family who are making all this possible. They are working around the clock to make it a great event and have enlisted dozens of volunteers to help honor WWII veterans. Jessica Courter is also personally responsible for the excellent web site. Please thank them if you see them at the event.
