My understanding, yes, late war. The equaliberator mount was spring loaded with some adjustment bolts so that when you pulled the release pins to make the gun tactical, it would be at a level rest position. Not barrel or receiver heavy when released.

Just remembered, one of the things I liked about this cradel, was, when mounted on my jeep with the .59 cal, you could set the spring tension mount so that, when you pulled the pin out, the gun would have a slight barrel elevated position. You could swivel the gun to a slight deflection to the front of the jeep and pull the pin and the barrel would be pointed in an anti aircraft looking position. Made for a neat look rather then the fixed pointed stright over the hood look.
